National Adoption Month was founded back in 2001 and their mission statement is as follows:
"The primary purpose of Adoption Month is to raise awareness about adoption, adoptive families, and children who need adoptive homes. If done well, awareness-raising efforts represent adoptive families in a positive manner, enhance an organization's public profile, and make the plight of waiting children a community responsibility."
If you are interested in learning more about the adoption month, check out this resource which is posted by the North American Council on Adoptable Children. It includes a Month Guide including discussions on adoption awareness, recruitment, education & celebration.
