Hope you and your families have been having a good Sunday.

Holidays for me have always been anxiety filled. From having to make a meal, to making sure the kids were dress in their best and always having to serve at church. It was stressed filled for me. Now that the kids are older and Joel and I currently live separately. Holidays have taken on a new life.

My husband was able to be in MN for this weekend. We celebrated his birthday yesterday and today Easter. We ended up going to our son's church in Fargo. Very nice services. We actually went to Good Friday service with him as well. Sonja had to work today, but she joined us for Good Friday.

I'll be totally transparent, it has been surreal for me. You see my flesh and the devil wants to feed me lies and hold me back. Our son had a whole different life previously. As a kid he was immersed in church and christian life. As a child he accepted Jesus, as well as he could accept and understand. Then life turned and he chose poor choices that honestly affected almost every aspect of our lives. Finances, physical items that certainly are replaceable and emotionally. I should be overjoyed and thrilled with his latest life choices. Don't get me wrong, I am!

He is attending his church at least twice a week if not more. He reads his bible, takes notes and attends a bible study outside of church. I should be overjoyed! And I am but there is this nagging thing that holds me back. I believe it is satan. Thoughts of his old life and old ways keep me held back. I think that he is going to trip up and go back to the way things were. So this Good Friday, I asked God to take those insecurities in me, take the thing away that is holding me back from experiencing His joy and the joy in experiencing our son choosing God over old ways.

Praise the Father, Praise the Son, Praise the spirit three in one! I praise God for the new life and the new choices. Is life picture perfect? No, there is still growth to be had and there is wiser choices to be made, but life has moved forward extremely far and fast. Pray with me that Satan's thoughts would be squashed and that I could enjoy the new faith and new choices my son is making. Maybe this should have been called prodigal son.

Enjoy your Easter and Praise God for all we have and how far we have come!
Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-20821790045851676102023-04-07T15:37:00.005-05:002023-04-07T15:37:32.567-05:00Snow More!

I'm somewhat late in posting this. We have been getting snowstorm after snowstorm. The last storm was Wednesday of this week. We got approximately 7 inches total. The worst part of these storms is the wind. I had a work from home day. School was canceled. We literally have no more room for snow. This is not unusual for this part of the country but it has been a while since we've seen these levels.

Today we are sitting at almost 40 degrees and it is sunny. So thankful for the sun and warmth. It helps that my husband is back in MN to stay with us until Monday. This time it comes with a few unusual things. Our daughter, Sonja, is set to graduate high school in the Spring of 2024. So! She and I are staying back in MN at a townhome we rented and my husband has moved along with all of our belongings to Colorado.

I knew it would be challenging but not this challenging. So far our winter has been mild but didn't start out mild. In three weeks time we had gotten ice, high winds, and snow upon snow. It took all my energy to keep up with it. Joel finally purchased me a small electric snow thrower and the snow slowed down exponentially! HA! Isn't that how that works?!

Joel comes back from time to time to visit us in MN and Sonja and I have been to CO to visit him. We just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary and had been apart for 40 days. Way too long! We decided to look at the calendar and plan out when we can connect more often.

It will help when there is nice weather as well. Nicer weather and clean roads make it possible for me to travel to the Twin Cities and visit family and friends. I'm hoping once the nice weather returns, the time will go even faster!

The pic of the home above is our new home in CO. We sold our home in MN in one day. Market was good but soon changed with rising interest rates.

I'm really hoping to get there again this summer in order to continue to decorate and organize. We have replaced the carpet. Joel has created some storage shelves in the garage. He is hoping to build a shed for the backyard. We are also planning on renovating the kitchen just a bit. Updated appliances and countertops. We are hoping to increase the island size as well.

Joel has been Youtubing for the last few years and just reached the ability to monetize. It's not much but it is fun for him. Check it out..search Joel on Grid on Youtube. @joelongrid7625

Hope all is well and are having a great start to 2023!
Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-77870980597199903922020-03-30T17:43:00.001-05:002020-03-30T17:43:53.960-05:00COVID-19This time is extremely surreal. I am working part time from home. I need to go into the office to take care of a couple of things, but for the most part, I am at home.

My daughter started her online schooling today. A bit of anxiety of how it will all happen or take place, but I think she didn't mind it. She was tired when they were done, so I think it was a successful day. Unfortunately she is napping right now and it will mess up her sleep. Oh well!

So, I hope that you are not anxious or scared. These are extremely strange times. I pray that everyone is safe and has not been exposed to it. I pray that everyone is heeding the leaders recommendations and staying home, if you can.

As far as the frontline hard working people. Thank you! I pray for you daily. I pray that God protects you and keeps you safe.
I think our first craft weekend was back in 2011. Since then, we have been getting together twice a year. We get to a resort in MN on Wednesday afternoon and we scrap the weekend away until Sunday afternoon when it is time to pack up.

I can’t say that I work on much but I throughly enjoy my time with the gals who show up. We really have become a close knit group. The core of our group stays in touch and connects in other ways outside of crafting. We are always open to new friends joining us. We have had a few new ounces join us. It is fun to get to know new peeps!

God is good. When I am in a new town (2 1/2 years hasn’t brought forth too many friends yet) it is nice to still have my core friends to connect with despite the miles between us.

My latest is doing greeting cards. I made them before, but I have been making more and more on my weekends away.

It’s my outlet. Do you have an outlet? Do you have a hobby or a core group of friends to connect with? I hope you do.

I suggested to my husband that we write, hand-write one letter a month to a random friends of ours for the whole year. It's Jan. 21 and we have yet to get that letter out the door. We will see if we can kick it old school. #stillhavetime #january #challenge #willitbeyouthismonth?Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-83896198387379578562019-01-21T16:51:00.000-06:002019-01-21T16:51:00.627-06:002018!Twenty-Eighteen has been a great year with some challenges. Sonja turned 12, entered seventh grade and continues to play the trumpet. Nicolai graduated high school and started NDSU with their pharmaceutical program. Grateful for how God has paved the way and opened doors for those two. Joel continues to climb the proverbial ladder at his work. He accepted a new position but thankful it did not cause another move. I continue to learn the finance world. It has been challenging and continues to be at times. I am slowly getting it and hope that I don't forget what I've learned.

I hope 2018 has been a good year for you!
Happy New Year!
2019Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-69256680898001956222018-03-24T22:34:00.000-05:002018-03-24T22:34:04.622-05:00A Blessing! For the past nine years, I have taken a bit of time out of life to connect with friends through crafts. We join up at a resort or rental cabin and paper craft the entire weekend away. I have had the privilege of doing that again this weekend. It is fun! I don’t have responsibility other then to myself. I can get caught up on cards or scrap book pages, whichever I prefer!

Another weekend is coming to a close and I am always sad to see it come and go so fast. We are in the midst of trying to find a new place again. Since I moved, we are looking to find another spot that suits our needs and is a good half way point for all of us.

I may not have a close friend or connection in my current town, like I have prayed about for years, but I have these group of ladies who will travel an hour or more to join up with me and craft. That is a blessing!

This particular weekend we have found ourselves meeting up at a camping resort. They have cabins off of a beautiful lake and a lodge that allows us to spread out and create a paper trail (mess) with our creative minds.

We usually have more food than we know what to do with. We have snacks up the wazoo! Most importantly we have fun! Praising God for another fun weekend!Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-44421982494764792112018-01-29T18:34:00.003-06:002018-01-29T18:34:59.586-06:00Six Months!

It's already been six months! Amazing! We are getting settled and pretty much unpacked. Yes, even the storage boxes have been unpacked and gone through. This home is a blessing. We are enjoying it and its amenities. It is very strange for us to have a home that has every square inch of it completely finished. We are use to having to finish a basement or add our touch to something. This home is only two years old and has new, everything! We are technically the first owners. The previous owner, never lived in it. He rented it out to a few guys who slept in the basement and that was it.

In the past six months, I have finally acquired work. I started mid - October as an administrative assistant for a local financial planner. It has been something different. I usually find myself in the construction industry, but this time, it is finance! Not my forte!!

Kids are half way through school and Joel is getting settled into his new position with the railroad.Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-90380408167226693222017-09-23T15:51:00.001-05:002017-09-23T15:51:44.104-05:00Movin' on up!If you have looked at any of the changes on my blog, you have figured out that we have moved again. Unfortunately it was not the direction I was hoping for. My husband took a new position with the RR and it brought us back north. We are back to MN but in the Western North Central part of the state.

It hasn't been a bad move. It actually went better then I thought it would. We sold our home in SD on May 30th and lived with friends and family until we closed on our home in MN on July 25th. Being homeless for a couple of months was not fun, but the accommodations were wonderful.

We are now settling into our MN home. Kids are in school. Hubbies working the new position and I'm in the process of finding a job. Finding a job in today's world - not fun! Everything seems to be online and we are back to the degree and piece of paper stage instead of "who you know".

I have a second interview on Monday and I'm praying I get it. Pray with me!
Life has been incredibly crazy the last two years. I will be explaining those changes over the next few posts.....stay tuned!

I will address the hair color change first! So, approximately two years ago, I was tired of coloring my hair. I had been coloring my hair since the age of 20. I'm pushing 50, so, that's a long time! The money alone was beginning to kill me, not to mention chemicals, etc.

I was getting to a point that my roots were peeking through after 10 days or so since my last color appointment. I couldn't afford to keep up with it. My hairstylist had noted that I was "silver" on majority of my head. I was afraid if I stopped coloring, I would end up this drab gray color.

So, tired of coloring and practically out of money to continue, I chose to transition to my natural silver color.

It took approximately a year and half. My stylist first stripped my hair of all of its color. It turned out to be a really ugly rust color. I was pitch black in color so to try and strip it, it turned out pretty light compared to what I thought it would be. Then my stylist started to streak in bleached highlights and each appointment I gained more and more. We did this so that my hair wouldn't get too damaged too quickly.

It worked! Now almost two years to the day of beginning this process, I am completely silver and it is my natural hair color. No more color for me!

My life is pretty plain as of late. We are busy with work and busy with kids. Tonight I decided to look through my blog. Oh the memories came flooding! Back when the kids were little, I had lots to write about, but it feels as if there isn't much to tell these days. I'm going to have to reconnect with my most inner thoughts and see if I can begin to blog again. It was so therapeutic. I miss the blogging community and support.Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-85412631135393190572015-05-31T15:03:00.001-05:002015-05-31T15:03:10.056-05:00Swore I would never.....Make wedding invites and ceremony programs again, but then my niece went and got engaged. So excited for her. I'm thrilled she asked me to be part of her day. I made the invites and the ceremony programs. Looking forward to a fun time with family!
Last night was fun, but oh so cold! Just a week ago, we had 70 degree weather. Oh well, Sonja had a fun time and came home with a large bag of candy. It was out of the blue and sorry I can't divulge what it was, but it sure makes me think. Hoping that I don't have to fight for what I currently have. Said friend is much younger, single and doesn't have too much for commitments these days and neglected to tell us he had to work tonight. Oh well, the party treats and decor can stay and we will use it later.....maybe.....
We have switched over to become an Apple family. I'm very happy about that. Most these days are not and are doing whatever they can do to get away from Apple products. I'm not quite sure why - it's probably something political. I'm not a political person, so I will stick with what I like!

I purchased a new keyboard that has numeric keypad integrated. FINALLY!!! I hated that the keyboard I bought with my iMac didn't have numbers on the side of it like a calculator. Now I'm happy! Whenever I do bills it will come in handy!
Well, we are not! We are trying to get a certificate for our children. We discovered that they don't have their Citizenship Certs. We have gone through all the motions and paperwork, but somewhere along the line we got missed for the actual cert.

So, we are combing through piles of paperwork to see what happened and to get an actual cert in our hands. Hoping this will all blow over very soon!
Another so called diet, well this time it is different. This is a diet change, but it is for health reasons and not necessarily weight management. I'm hoping there is a bonus of some weight loss, but I'm not getting up too much hope. I have tried diet gimmick after diet gimmick and none of them have worked. Oh they work for a little while and yes, I've lost maybe 10 lbs. but more then that - no! Very disappointing. I'm trying an all natural approach and hoping the aids that I am taking are actually supplements your body should have every day anyway. I have become a Young Living Essential Oil distributor and use their oils every day for my health. They work very well and I love them! So, I'm going to give their supplements a try. We will see - my expectations aren't too high.
I apologize in advance! Approximately a year ago, I had fallen ill. The symptoms were similar to the flu, but my left side was the only side that ached or hurt. Since then, I have had various medical issues and they have all affected the left side of my body in one way or another. Weird!

I have been able to rule out heart attack or stroke, but there are times where I have questioned whether I was having or not. Thankfully it has just been a nuisance pain.

My body is changing. I'm experiencing or beginning to experience the mid life changes that are associated with hitting your mid forties or early fifties. I know it's different for each of us woman, regardless - it stinks! Hot flashes can go away as soon as possible, as far as I'm concerned. :/ Yuck!

I just think it is very strange and weird that my left side is being the problem. I have told my doctor - but I think she thinks I'm crazy.......

Oh well, grateful I'm still kicking!Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18609784.post-54963987514151057652014-07-29T18:39:00.000-05:002014-07-29T18:39:20.373-05:00Customer ServiceWhat has happened to Customer Service? For the most part it has become an automated recorded voice when trying to reach someone or a self serve situation. Recently I have noticed the huge down turn of customer service. I don't know if today's generation even knows what it means?! Now before I sound too old and stodgy, you need to understand my training and background.

When I entered the work field (more then just babysitting) I began my working history at Menard's. I started as a cashier. We were put through a weeks worth of training on how to handle customers. It was drilled into us that customer's are always right (even though I didn't really think so). Well, Menard's must have changed their training now that Ray has passed on. Menard's employees do not have nor appear to have had the same training that I did when I was working there.

It's very hard to get anyone to stop and help you, let alone an answer. There use to be this thought process of customers that they were always right and unless you treated them as such, they would demand more. That role appears to be changing. Too often and not only at Menard's, have I run into the employee or coworker who has the mentality that they are always right and they have the right to demand until they get what they want. Sometimes they even have the mindset that "if I ignore them or ignore the situation" it will some how disappear. Vanish into thin air!

It is hard to see that when I was trained and taught that you set aside your own issues, your own desires and you do "whatever it takes" to please the customer. After all, they are a contributing factor in how you get paid or what you get paid with. They are the reason the store exists in the first place.

If you are a business owner or someone who desires customers or clients to help grow your business, please take a tip from me. Get some customer service training - it's out there, everywhere and it is even free. Make it a priority for your employees to treat the clients or customers with as much care as possible.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Hopefully that means kind, courteous and considerate of their needs.Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14408881908228138037noreply@blogger.com0
