Waiting again.....

We completed the next phase for the adoption. This week we put our first large "chunk" down to cover the attorney, foster care family, diapers, formula, doctor fees, court administration, etc. etc. We also were able to find out that Sonja is getting her medical needs met. She was diagnosed with VDRL and as of Tuesday, she was receiving her first treatment. A doctor friend of ours tells us that if caught in time, she should be fine and have no problems. Praise God! Our dossier will now be passed onto the embassys and consulates to have seals put on them and then it will finally travel to Guatemala where it will then go to family court. I believe the next step then is PGN. PGN can take several weeks to months before they approve. PGN is the critical step, they scrutinize your paperwork, if ANY error appears, it is sent back to correct which, of course, takes extra time. We are praying for our paperwork to be spotless and perfect in their eyes! During all of this going on, then we arrange and pay for DNA testing to take place for baby and bio Mom. So that is where we are at. We continue to finish part of the basement to prepare for Sonja and get Nico moved down as well. His room is done and hopefully I will have pictures up soon.

What is VDRL?

Lisa - Thank you!

Margaret - VDRL is unfortunately an STD contracted from Mom and specifically is Syphilis. If it is not treated it can be a very scary and nasty disease, but if caught and treated early and right away, such as in Sonja's case, it is currable! Praise God!

Way to GO!! I am adopted myself and believe whole heartedly in that institution. What a GREAT and wholesome alternative it is to an abortion. Praise GOD to whom all blessings flow!
